Did you know that not all LCD monitors are the same? They come in many different flavors, ranging from TN, MVA, S-PVA, S-IPS, H-IPS, and some other variations. Here I am comparing the TN panels to the H-IPS panels, and showing the differences between a less expensive monitor and a semi expensive monitor. Of course there are even better monitors available if your willing to spend around $2K for a 24". I've included a couple of links, so if you're interested in the technical difference please check these pages out.

Most consumers when buying a new monitor have a tendency to look for the biggest monitor their money can buy, which is fine if you're the average PC user. But for those who are like me and spend thousands on PC Rigs, they should be a little more particular when it comes to their monitor selection.

I believe that a monitor is as important as any other component, especially when thats what were going to see for hours and hours, day in and day out!. I feel that it is a very important part of the total package, without a decent monitor how will your rig shine!

  • Where can I find that fish wallpaper?

  • @alvarg I've done alot of research on tn vs ips in the last few months and have found the the colour difference isn't really that great in fact a well calibrated tn blows a ips out of the water in terms of colour and responsiveness. Ips was designed for still images so for photographers and people working with sing images

  • i noticed that the ips looked black and white where the other dell looked more grey scale and the Samsung jeez that looks like sepia not black and white

  • @Niqbal87 yes, blacks are more black less grey, and whites are white not blue-ish everything is lots more clear on a ips, tn panels are cheap monitors that are cheap and easy to make

  • excellent review the best I have seen

  • u2410 gives more natural looking colors.. which is really nice :)

  • My take on these comparisons: the main problem with the 2494sw is of course the yellow hue to everything, BUT it consistently had the highest detail in dark areas and better contrast levels overall than the other 2 (look at the mountain at 10:44 and the top of the left fence post, you can see how dark they are in the 2410 and 2409 but detailed in the 2494)

Im sure because of this, the 2494 could be a great monitor with some changes in color hue.
