Me thinks she just had her first orgasm in 45 years. I wish the D'Alesandro family in Baltimore had practiced birth control, the world would be a far better place. She is the last in a line of slimeball politicians from the great state of Maryland. Almost as impressive as Chicago, but I digress...

vllmer: IRRELEVANT. It is irrelevant what the ABA spent on lobbying congress......The FACT remains that Tort reform does NOT lower healthcare costs.
insurance-reform(dot)org/issue s/MedMalSystemCostsFactSheet20 09F

Tort reform is only a right wing talking point because "Tort reform" protects big corporations from responsibility and screws the little guy. In fact, if (R)'s didn't take so much corporate money tort reform wouldn't even be an issue.

Sounds 2 me MDs wouldn't be able to operate in TX if not for the liability reform-I have also heard the TX dem congressman got his state exempted from effects of pelosi care (4 his vote). Don't know what will happen to the other states. It will also be interesting to see if gov clamps down on lawsuits when it owns the health care industry and just wants to cut the costs. Along with rationing, denial of care, taxes 2 prop up the state controlled system & rising premiums like in Oregon, Mass, etc.

vllmer: Wrong. Texas needs some progressive leadership.
From 2000 to 2009:
Over 25% of Texans do not have health care, the highest rate of uninsured in the country. star-telegram(dot)com/804/stor y/1602601

AND..........Those who have health care have seen their premiums increase 91.6% over the last decade five times faster than the increase in median income. Statesman(dot)com/news/content /news/stories/local/2009/09/16 /0916insurance

Progressive thinking almost drove out the MDs and crippled the ones that stayed. Texas also has an illegal immigrant population that requires care, like california (which also enacted tort reform).
I've also heard that gov is recommending women get fewer mammograms now. The rationing has begun. Like the higher taxes and premiums in Mass. that were supposed to be avoided by letting the state run health care, or denial of care in OR.

vllmer: Your post makes absolutely no sense.
AGAIN: Since Texas enacted tort reform insurance premiums for Texans have increased 91.6%.

Moreover, The CBO estimates that job-based health insurance could increase 100% over the next decade. Employer-based family insurance costs for a family of four will reach nearly $25,000 per year by 2018 absent health care reform.
Congressional Budget Office, Taxes and Health Insurance, February 2008.

Why do you (R)'s care so little for Americans?

READ SLOWLY-
TX tort reform was for MD LIABILITY INSURANCE, IT DID NOT CAP ECONOMIC DAMAGE. CALIFORNIA HAD TORT REFORM TOO. Tx has more SMALLER businesses that cannot offer the same kind of group employer insurance as larger co. can. Their pop. is growing. You have illegals in TX, not large part of uninsured but they use many svcs. Tort refrom, allow insur. providers to sell over state lines, make insur. portable, etc. will increase competition, choice 4 consumers. GOV WILL RATION & DENY CARE.

vllmer: WTF are you talking about?
You stated, "TX has more SMALLER businesses that cannot offer the same kind of group employer insurance as larger co. can."
EXACTLY. YOU ARE MAKING MY ARGUMENT FOR ME.

178,000 small business jobs will be lost by 2018 as a result of health care costs, $834 billion in small business wages will be lost due to high health care costs over the next ten years
Small Business Majority [June 2009]

Why do you (R)'s hate small business?

Gov. can't run programs its entrusted with 4 decades.
What are you talking about?
social security...medicare...f/mae... f/mac...FHA in the red...FDIC on shaky ground...lower standards/rationing 4 breast cancer detection...obamacare starts w/10 yrs of taxes 2 cover 7 yrs services, later yrs less taxes/but more costs (backloaded)...pelosi hid $300 bill "dr fix", cost is higher...biz will HAVE 2 DUMP employees on public plan then the rationing begins.
Why do you like denying people care w/gov force?

Gov will pay out $ubsidie$ to research, fund green "jobs" (I wonder if they'll be as phony as stimulus "jobs"), & consumers costs will rise (as obama said). Higher costs starts slow but spikes in later years of capntax program. Carbon trading is a scam. "polluters" will go offshore as in other countries. It will be exploited & sucked dry by actors similar to the mortgage meltdown. The next bubble will be the green one. Again, managed by the gov that ran f/mae, fmac, ss, medicare, HUD, FHA...
