I walked back into the room and told Tay we were ready. It was a hot day. And there was no air conditioning on yet. Today would be a long day...
The normal walking down the isle happened. Joe and Tay made their own vows. I ended up tearing. It was so cute! After the exchange of rings and the I do, there was the passionate kiss. I looked down at the boquet in my hand so I wouldn't feel my heart ripping apart. But I already knew it had been destroyed. Many times before.
The ceremony was over within the hour. Afterwards, all the bridesmaids hung back because of picture taking. Nick and I started talking. He kept staring at me with those eyes. He looked smashing in that tux(;. Sel, Nick and I snuck away from photographers. And started camerawhoring again. By the time everyone found us, we had taken over eighty pictures.
Reception happened to be 3 hours later. I went home and grabbed a pair of flats. I knew there would be some dancing tonight(;. Here's a memory that popped into my head. Sel, Nick and I went clubbing a few times. The first time we went we were too chicken to do anything. Second time, we got low on that dance floor. [[Bad idea to wear a short skirt]]. Third time, we grinded for like 5 hours straight. It was crazy. And a hobo was trying to follow me home. Nick came to the rescue and whooped his ass. He was screaming at him after he punched him. One thing I paid attention to was the last sentence that came out of his mouth: I LOVE HER! So back off,dipshit. And he walked me home to be safe.
Sel and I met up in the bathroom at the reception hall. I re-applied some mascara. And Selena made the tone of her skin shiny. She looked stunning.
The normal reception took place. First dance. Slideshows filled with memories. Cake. More dancing. The DJ making a fool of himself. And embarassing moments. [[speeches by friends/family]]. Nick had made a speech representing Kevin. I couldn't believe at how close Kevin and Joe were. Since they were in kindergarten, they've been friends. It all started over glue. Joe was eating some glue. Kevin went over,stole his glue, and ate it all by himself. When the teacher caught Kevin, he got 10 minutes in the corner. He got in trouble for eating glue and stealing. Joe got 15 minutes in the corner for taking the glue off some girl's desk and eating it. That's the sweetest way I've ever heard of two people becoming friends.
As we were dancing, the clock struck nine. I said a quick bye to Jaylor. And wished them luck. I didn't tell them where I was off to. But I carefully snuck off with Nick when Selena was talking with Danielle. I dragged him over to my house. Where he changed into jeans and a soccer shirt. I slipped on a pair of shorts, flip-flops, and a shirt that said "I love you." I hugged my mom and left the house. Nick drove not knowing how to bring up a conversation in the car.
We arrived just on time. I took a look at the departure board and looked through the list of places. Hawaii. Pennsylvania. Connecticut. Florida.Texas.California.Las Vegas.Arizona. Detroit. Bingo. The flight was in 10 minutes so Nick and I ran across the airport to the security gates and got all our luggage checked in and headed off.
Before I lost sight of the airport forever, I looked back. At the people and at the place itself. A tear rolled down my cheek. "Goodbye." I whispered. Here was the final move. The beginning of a new life in a whole new place. Once I stepped into that plane, I sat by the window as Nick took a seat beside me. I looked out at my surroundings. Everything was going to change. Right now.
Nick and I stared at each other for a long moment.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" he asked wiping the tears on my cheeks.
"Positive. It's the only way."
He intertwined his fingers with mine as the plane took off.
