"All children shoud have the chance to learn a musical instrument"
Mr Gove, Secretary of State for Education
Recommendation 33 of the Henley Review is about exploring the potential of technology in providing quality music making opportunities. I have provided some thoughts on music education hubs and how, and why, they should include a digital component to sit alongside, and in addition to, traditional music making.
The video is informal, shot in a few quiet moments in my office at home and is not intended to be prescriptive. After six years working directly in the sector I feel informed and confident that there is a significant and compelling offer for pupils and schools that will emerge out of these initial ideas.
We will continue our work with schools, but will be looking to engage Music Services throughout the year to offer our support in the formation of an effective digital strategy for music, which will include instrumental tuition through elearning*.
