Tax Rebate Scam aims to steal your money, identity

The S.C. Department of Consumer Affairs warns consumers to be on the lookout for a resurgence in the tax rebate scam. This scam was first identified by the Department in January, when the President's Economic Stimulus Package had yet to be even passed. Now that rebate checks are beginning to be received we believe scammers will attempt to use these legitimate checks as a way to steal your money. This video explains how the scam works, what to be on the lookout for, and how to protect yourself against this scam.
