Studio B Kaps upright piano video test. David Ives demonstrates this old warhorse has life in it yet. Constructed from German tank metal. Factory sadly bombed by saturation 'Bomber Harris', no relation to Bob Harris of BBC 'Old Grey Whistle Test' vintage. No mention here of Frank Zappa's quote regarding music journalists!
My early influences: Oscar Peterson, Keith Emerson, George Shearing, soon followed by Keith Jarrett, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Joe Sample. Today I listen to solo piano of Duke Ellington, Earl Hines, Art Tatum, Bud Powell, Dave Brubeck, Lennie Tristano, Cecil Taylor.
My deepest love now lies in the music of Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, Lester Young, Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, and later of Charlie Parker, Stan Getz. John Coltrane supreme?

  • Thanks,Zinston for reminding me. Somehow I had a suspicion 'he existed' but didn't get to check him out

until a couple of months ago. I feel there are pointers

here, wonderful, especially the discipline. He gives me the strength to continue. Srangely enough my latest

upload is of Yamaha CP80 electric grand, sample though.

Neighbours again! I will emigrate soon, people hate real jazz here! D.Ives.
