This a video demonstrating the steps to prep a helmet so that it will be ready for airbrushing,

Items use: 800 Grit sandpaper soft, medium, rough, masking tape, duck tape, plastic bags, water, towel, paper towel, dish detergent, black primer,

Step:1 please please please!!!!!! safety first wear gloves, mask, old clothes and spray in a ventilated area or outside preferably.

step:2 clean the helmet with dish detergent to remove dirt, oil, grease etc...

step:3use an 800 grit sandpaper to scuff the helmet, (Remember scuff lightly) make sure the shine of the helmet is completely gone. b sure that the helmet is thoroughly scuff go over two to 3 times for the best results.

step:4 clean the helmet again, removing all part particles from sanding.

step: 5 after the helmet is dry begin to mask off all the areas of the helmet you do not wish to have the black primer on, also stuff the helmet with some type of material (plastic bags, news paper) so that it is also protected from any excessive paint, primer etc.

step:6 it is extremely important you be out in an open area to apply the primer on the helmet. give as many coats you need to achieve the ultimate look your shooting for. this will dull the helmet down. the smell is very strong and it can be hazardous if inhaled. please be careful remember safety first damn it : )

after letting the helmet dry it should be ready for you to do your thing, i hope you all find this video useful thanks. please rate and subscribe,

Great video. I really appreciate the time you took to do this for everyone and I learned what I needed to know. Thanks again.

  • You need to get some wet/dry sand paper that will not fall apart in water. That will eliminate the problem you were having at 3:05

You can soak it all day and it will stay intact Good Video though...
