I'm from Raleigh, NC where it all started. Kelly sings in a local band, Jason plays drums in a local band. Kearns plays bass in Skynyrd, and Audley is into everything from a stint in the Crowes to playing with Page, to now sitting in with various recording artists. Great guys and shame Kelly had to quit after the first album which pretty much did them in.

@skrimpdaddy Different stories, but some say the signed record company wanted a different looking front man. Others say Kelly wanted to be home with family. not real sure I've ever heard Kelly say personally.

@buzzybee77 Check out crushband net.

@benellidown What band is Kelly in?

@benellidown Why did Kelly have to quit? I loved this band and got them right out of the box ... What they did, we need more of...

Audley Freed Rocks and this band had something special. Too bad they didn'tmake it.

i absolutley agree with you , i just got tintroduced to cry of love about two years ago , have you heard audley freed with chris robinson and the new earth mud? in my opinion its better than the album he did with the crowes.i think its more in keeping with his style on the cry of love stuff.

@basvarken hearing Peace Pipe for the first time it'S all Free and Rodgers

Love the into, always loved this song!!!!

The comparison to the FreeCompany was so obvious that you have to be blind/deaf to ignore it. I just love it.

The Cry of Love album "Diamonds and Debris" is still one of my favorites. Audley Freed knows how to play a guitar and tickle all the frets. Never seen anything ever posted off it though. very under publicized player we could all learn a new trick off of.

Can someone tell me if the 2nd album is any good? I know it's got another vocalist on it, the dude from Lynch Mob,but all the rest of the band are on it so it should rock hard right, This band was a mix of FREE & BAD CO,with a touch of HENDRIX what a mix! They should get back together!

Yes it's a good album. But Robert Mason doesn't have nearly as much Soul in his voice as Kelly Holland has.
And I'd say the second album is slightly less accessible.
About the Free, Bad Co comparison. I've always felt that Cry Of Love only sounded like Bad Co in this particular song (Bad Thing). The rest of their stuff was much more in the vein of Humble Pie, Faces, Robin Trower, GFR.
