Hana hacks a difficult leapgate in Puzzle Quest: Galactrix.
A lot of people seem to think leapgates are hard and such a pain to complete. Leapgates are the one thing that people whine about with this game more than anything else. They're really not that difficult though, in fact if anything the game could sorely use some more challenge as for the most part it's way too easy.

It's not that gates are hard, it's that they're pointlessly repetitive with no rewards to show for them. If they had simply made locked gates at key junctions on them map that stayed open once you've unlocked them once; or made each gate slightly different, then I doubt people would complain.
As it is, it's just a blatent ploy to make the game feel longer than it is.
The reward is that you unlocked the thing and can move to a new place. And they very rarely relock. Yes it does happen, but not that often. 90% of gates you open will stay open forever.
Yes, correct. The factions don't matter a damn once you do the side-quest because no-one attacks you after that anyway. The side quest is given to you by that creepy "psi" guy, it's in six or seven parts and after you complete each part you get some "psi power" thing that prevents a certain class of ship from attacking you. Collect em all and no-one attacks you at all unless it's part of the plot, or you initiate it yourself. And bola mines plus the turn-skip module are an I-win button.

Oh and would you agree that Bola Mines are quite cheap?
