ANDY YATES is a student at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond. His chief reason for opposing the death penalty is the fact that it is easy to make mistakes. Errors in Kentucky trials leading to death sentences are many, resulting in more than half of all death sentences being overturned. One man, Larry Osborne, was released from Kentucky's death row when a jury declared him not guilty in a second trial.

  • I agree- life is too precious no matter who the person, to possibly even risk making a mistake with. You are also right about forgiveness and I have much respect for you for giving your views on here regarding the DP. I was a student at EKU back in 2001-2002 (!!) and was proud to see someone from there speaking out strongly on a matter they feel is important and needs to be changed. Thank you so much for sharing your view and opinions about the DP here in KY!
