One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest

This selection of clips shows the relationship between Nurse Ratched and R.P. McMurphy... i basically wanted to catch some of the great looks captured by Jack Nicholson and Louise Fletcher. If you haven't seen the film, I show some of the ending, but you may not get it until you watch the film.

As usual, I liked the book better, just because how the author develops Chief Bromden's character... he's actually the narrator in the book. I also thought there were some great, hysterical lines in the book that I was surprised didn't make it into the film.

Would love feedback... I just started editing, any advice you have, I'll take.

Gwen, how do edit these videos? I am very new to this so please forgive my ignorance. Do you some sort of software that is already on computer or what? How is it done exactly? Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

@MrDallasBobby i think it was windows movie maker that came with my computer at the time. the apple version would be iMovie. they're both pretty user friendly and easy to pick up.

i know Jack Nicholson is like 72 now, but i honestly think he was a very handsome guy in the 70's and 80's.

Because they gave McMurphy a labotemy, basically turned him into a vegetable, and the Chief says "I can't leave without you" because he can't stand the fact of him being free and McMurphy being in that hospital like a vegetable for the rest of his life because I think he knows that's not what McMurphy would've wanted. I hope I explained it correctly!

@Honeybowtie So what if they didn't like her? If they didn't at least respect her, she wouldn't be in a position of power. If she were really that bad, someone would put a stop to her behavior. Since she is friends with Billy's mother, he is her repsonsibility more than the others are. Also, Mac escaped jail, which would have been far more soul crushing. Heck, my high school is more restrictive than the hospital! Also, "I'm done debating--I won" is a dirty trick.

@Honeybowtie First of all, she's not the only one in control at the hospital. There are many doctors, etc. who no doubt boss her around and constantly tell her how to do her job. As for blaming R.P, she probably thinks that he's a general rabblerouser and blames him for Billy's death because he "itroduced" B.B to the prstitute in the frst place. She only threatens to tell his mother about what he's done and that's not too unreasonable. Remember, the voting was her idea, not RP's.

She blames McMurphy for Billy`s death,lol..WTF? She loved to play with Billy`s mind.Billy was a nervous wreck,scared of his Mother whom Nurse Shithead knew well. In her position,,I`d treat them like normal human beings.Allow them to watch a "baseball match":) To relieve your curiosity.I`d be the opposite of her.

@Honeybowtie How can you tell it’s a look of pleasure? In the book, it describes her somewhat fixed smile, so probably this look is a just what she has been trained to do. I’m not quite sure what specific scene you are referring to, though. As for her calm reaction to Billy’s death, that’s also part of being a nurse.She has been trained to keep a stiff upper lip. I’m sure she blames R.P. for his death. I would be curious to know what you would do if you were in her position.

"Lets just get on with our daily routine" Yeah,an 18 year old kid stuck glass in his throat and killed himself,thanks to Nurse Rahtched`s threats.I`d blow my brains out if I were her. Mac gave the patients hope,showed them another side to life. I love Mac`s character,.The chief admired and loved Mac too.
