Couldn't agree with you more. Ziehrer was a real man of genius. Unfortunately, try telling that to those "hothead" Straussians!!! Falls on deaf ears every time.....

The Emperor Ball is held Dec.31., always in the Hofburg, which starts the Ball season. To Ash Wednesday you can then attend a hundred Balls, if you wish. These are held in many of their beautiful ballrooms. Some of the Balls are already booked out for 2012 and 2013. You can book with or without dinner and the dress code is strictly enforced. First, learn to waltz. All Balls are splendid!

I love the Austrian/Wiener tradsition, its music and dance. What a delight to attend the Ball season in person. It's open to the world. Let's all meet there next year and share a waltz together!
