It was 1989 and Bob & the Beachcombers were only two years old, but many were already comparing this new sixties show band to some of the best nostalgia acts in the Midwest, such as the Rockin' Hollywoods and the Whitesidewalls. In order to compete successfully with these top regional acts, the Beachcombers brought in a new talented guitar player and vocalist - four year old Shawn Burtis. He was a popular addition to the group and added a new dimension to the band with his stylish choreography and charming personality. Unfortunately, he decided to leave the group in 1990 to focus on his kindergarten education and a developing interest in computers.
