This is the only song for Oakland made in the early 1960's when the Del Coutney and the Upbeats played it at Frank Youell Field before Oakland Raider Games 1961-1964. When the Kansas City Athletics arrived in 1968 at the Oakland Airport they played this song. When the Oakland Raiders played the San Francisco 49ers in 1967, Turk Murphy played "San Francisco" from the 1936 movie and Del Courtney played, "Oakland, We're For You."

I could not quite get the first part.
"Oakland, We're for you....
We are sure that you're aware of famous cities everywhere
The ones that I am acquainted with songs at first..."
Am I right?

This is an amazingly wonderful piece of Americana. Is there anyplace I can find more from the Goodtime Washboard 3? I just LOVE them!!

OMG, I love this. It's so Oakland. Unlike that other city across the bay (what do they call that place? I always forget.), we don't take ourselves too seriously in Oaktown. A great song for a great city.

It's an old recording by the Goodtime Washboard 3, one of the great Bay Area groups from the early 1960s.
