The difficulty most of us have getting our head around, is the amount of time under consideration.
375 million years is one hell of a long time ago.
It can only be really appreciated when put into context of other events and discoveries that place Tiktaalik into a continuum of progression and changes found in fossils from before and after.
However, It is truly daunting and profound to look at that animal and consider it's age. What great fortune that it has lasted where it did at all.
