What really makes this vid addictive, though, is her playing with the closing music with an enormous smile, and the crowd is going nuts over it.

It's amazing how much she makes you smile to watch her - like, the extent to which performing is for *her* enjoyment rubs off on you (she's said that she asks for direct lighting in her face so she can't see the audience, because crowds freak her out). She never plays a song the same way twice (none of these are like the one on her albums), and she always, as here, tries to recruit in outside band folk when available.

The first time I heard Nellie McKay I was visiting Ireland. No kidding. My sister loved The Dog Song and was playing Get Away From Me while we were driving all around the country. Tipperary is a pretty town.

lol you're funny, "Normal as Blueberry Pie" is her fourth CD and "Pretty Little Head" is pretty great, so are the three other.
