JJM is one of my BJJ heroes. I am a purple belt and I have a knee that only bends 3/4 of the way closed. It is a huge hindrance in so many positions. It hinders my guard passes, knee on belly with that knee, and some sweeps and butterfly guard is a total no-no for me. BUT THIS MAN WON A WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WITH ONE HAND!!! There are no excuses, and BJJ is a game where you can always find another sweep, pass or sub that works for you (me). JJM reminds me that there is always another way.

@SCROGY thank you for sharing your story. i have a knee that locks. if i move it quick enough it locks up and i have to push down on it to unlock, a little painful. but like you said there is no excuse. thank you.

Much respect to Machado. There were so many parts of this match where he was in bad postions but he just stayed calm and resiliant and he found his way out. So many people would just give in from being in postions like that and from being at such a size and strength disadvantage.

Thats Jiujitsu somtimes. Its whethering the storm, finding your openings, and taking them as quick as you can.

@robertmcruz arona has several world bjj titles,jj machado has none as far as I know,arona also holds an absolute world title.He definitely has skills but Id rate machado higher,arona is very athletic but hes no unskilled brute.

Thanx for the video, but as far as the results, it really looks like they awarded a gym/juice head for moving around, holding on to his opponent for dear life and not having any true skill at all. Does Arona even attempt a submission during the whole match!? WTF!?
