sharing news and a few memories of this very very very special person, friend and leader for the Deaf world. He passed away yesterday, November 1, a huge huge shock to us all.
...always kind and fair...saw the best in people :'(...worthy of admiration...unforgettable...taught people about life and character by his example...still cry when i remember. not the same. miss him very badly. still grieving. special man. (student)
Listening to all the stories and memories about Larry has helped us get to know him a bit, even though we never had the privilege of meeting him in person. Our deepest sympathy to his family and friends.
I knew Dr. Fleisher during my 2 years at CSUN. He was not only extremely knowledgeable about his teachings, beliefs and causes, but he was the most humble and kind human being. He will always be remembered.
So sad to hear about Dr. Fleischser passing. I am hearing, an interpreter, and an alumna of CSUN. He was my first ASL instructor in 1976 when he himself was getting his PhD. I remember him as a wise, kind person who loved his family and students. What a loss, we will miss him so much! Sending love to his family, I remember how proud he was of his children. A very special person... no one will ever be able to take his place in so many areas. Love to you all who know him and are feeling sad
