In February of 2009, MTH released a Premier model of the CNJ ten-wheeler (4-6-0) Camelback steam locomotive #774. This model is a replica of the prototype as it appeared during fan trips toward the end of its life. It features the new MTH quillable whistle and you can hear it in the video. Please visit my web site - http://www.toytrains1.com - to see lots more videos of model (and real) trains in action! A NEW VIDEO OF THE CAMELBACK HAS BEEN SHOT IN TRUE HD 1080p! • Where's the fireman? MTH should have figured a way to make a fireman figure shoveling coal on the read deck.

  • The fireman is sitting in his seat in the cab, taking a break. :)

  • the chuffing dosnt sound right.... other then that great model!

  • The chuffing is exactly right, four chuffs per revolution.

  • @yardlet6 The fire is already close in any other engine it wasn't the reason why they were called "widowmakers". The reason why they were too dangerous was because the running gear was directly underneath the fireman and the engineer and many a time engineers and fireman would be fatally injured or killed when the running gear failed and shot up into the cab sending splinters and broken pieces of metal everywhere.

  • @lawrence142002 The camelbacks were dangerous too because the fire was close to the engineer and fireman. That's why they were called "widowmakers".

  • The camelback is my favorite type of freight locomotive there is. I wish it wasn't so much money. But anyway VERY COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The sounds are more realistic than Lionel 4x is right.

  • I was never a big fan of the Camelbacks... The whole squat design was just not very attractive.

Still a great video! I wish I had a place to put a layout like this... Someday lol...

  • Such a shame the original was scrapped. Railfans tried to save it. But CNJ had already donated a camelback to the B&O Train Museum, and had no desire to donate another. The asking price was $6,000, which most of us could charge on a credit card today, but was a LOT of money back in the 50s. So after some railfan trips, she was sold for scrap. :(

  • man, i wish i hade the money to buy this. love camel backs =D

  • Oh golly it does!

  • how much was this engine?

  • i wish mth would make more nkp railking engines
