Best HD Video Converter! Free and Already on your PC

Many people ask me how I convert my videos. This video is basically the answer to everyone's questions. I use Windows Live Movie Maker to convert my HD videos. If you have Windows Vista or 7 then you already have this program. Nothing in this video will work in Windows XP though sorry.

There may be better methods of converting videos but this is what i use and so far I have gotten the best results I could find as far as quality and limitations go.

Different computers may have different codecs though so I cannot guarantee that this will work with all cameras.

I use this method to convert all of my videos from my Kodak Playsport video camera. The camera records in .mov (QuickTime) so that is not compatible with many programs on my computer such as Sony Vegas. Movie Maker converts the video to .wmv so I can edit with Vegas.

this is sorta unrelated to your video but you look like an expert so I'm gonna ask anyway. so, i got that same camera. you know the old windows movie maker? it has that timeline that i really like but now i got the windows live movie maker and i'm still new at it. my question is, how do you get playsport videos to play in the old windows movie maker (i mean it does play it, but not when I put it in the timeline, i just downloaded that off microsoft so that may be the case)?

my video is small bu originally widescreen. when i convert it end up having black space on top and bottom HOW DO I GET RID OF IT!

I'm assuming you're using the Windows XP version? There is a plugin that you can add to WMM to allow the option for widescreen HD. Search it up on youtube and there are a lot of tutorials xD
