Andeh and Lukman were commisioned to make a video for the BBC voices Streetsports event in Norwich.

The video, filmed entirely with one HDV camera, is the first video to fill such an area with contiguous footage.

This video is to show what it looked like in situ.

The Fusion screen, located at the Forum in Norwich, is based around 5 HD projectors. With a little overlap, they display videos of up to 9152 x 1080 pixels.

This is managed using a program called Watchout.

NRPK FOUR, along with the rest of the Streetsports festival, was on display from 27 / 7 / 2009 to 31 / 7 / 2009.

To see our video in full, you would need to replicate that setup. The files we used are available on request for those that can.

Alternatively, you can view a lower quality version if you can gather 5 similar monitors and decent internet connection.

Follow YouTube links for highly compressed versions of the constituent videos. Remember the 112 pixel overlap!

The HDV footage this is based on had a maximum resolution of 1440 x 1080i. Every frame of NRPK FOUR is made of several frames of lower resolution footage, digitally distorted and tracked to match.

All footage was shot on a tight scedule over the course of a few days. Most of the runs seen here were only shot once.

From conception of the "PentoraMAX" editing process to exporting the constituent videos for Watchout, NRPK FOUR was complete in just over four weeks.

The music was mixed together specifically to fit the video. The soundtrack is available on request.

  • Oh man. You should have asked me four hours ago!

We achieved it with a tight deadline, a flexible shedule, willingness to forgo sleep, and at least a hundred cups of tea.

Lots of pans following single traceurs using tripod. Careful distortion. Hours of motion tracking in AfterEffects. Hours aligning, timing, and masking music. A couple of nights mixing music. Two manic days trying to render several Gb of footage, ready for the opening night...

  • and chocolate hobnobs

  • Wow, really impressive project guys, didn't know you'd done this.

Would like to ask you sometime how you achieved it with one HDV camera..

  • Man, i cant imagine how much win it was to be in that room. Fucking great kudos guys, wish i had stayed longer :(

  • in answer to your questions :)

it was a chore... a proper pain to film. imagine herding cats, and we have a small example of part of it :) We only used one camera, and the way it worked, was we edited a massive screen. The resolution of 9152x1080, in after effects. After that, we cut it up into 5 sections, because the screen ran off 5 computers, each computer running a projector, then stuck them on that to have all 5 on the screen! worked surprisingly well :)

    Andeh :x

  • Oh - and deepest apologies if this was explained in the video and I missed it.

  • Wow. That's insane. Just a couple of questions?

How much of a bitch was it to film/edit?

Did you have to tuse multiple cameras because of the wiiiide screen?

Where there seperate videos for each projecter and were they made seperately.

    Keep up the Damaaaaage guys.

  • wish i could stay around a little longer to see it! turns out i could of but too late now i guess, really impressive guys, see you soon! =)

  • Well done :D

  • awesome!
