Hello Quad Cities! Occupy Quad Cities has seen several actions. The protest at the Rock Island County Courthouse in Illinois and the march across the Centennial Bridge to LeClaire Park in Davenport Iowa, where occupiers were treated to rousing speeches condemning the global corporate government alliance that keeps us all in its grip. The Occupiers that stayed at Centennial park showed that they were truly committed to this cause. We salute you!
The protest at Wells Fargo Bank on bank transfer day showed the community that we need to hit the biggest offenders where it will hurt the most, in their bank holdings. People all across america have been taking their money out of the global banking cartel and putting it into well researched community credit unions that care about the people in the community that they serve. This action on Wells Fargo Bank showed that the people across America as well as the Quad Cities will be heard. To any one that hears my voice that still has money in one of these banks, Take it out now and put it into a credit union that works for the good of your community.
I am pleased to see that Quad City Occupy in solidarity with their brothers and sisters across the country are having a benefit for fellow occupier and veteran Scott Olsen who was taken down by a police projectile while demonstrating for the Oakland California Occupation. It is important to the revolution that those that fall at the hands of the enemy get the support of the people that they lay their lives on the line for. The 1% must know that we do not abandon our brothers and sisters in this cause.
We have wittnessed lately some misunderstanding and misinformation about this movement in the Quad Cities and would like to clarify our position. This movement is not about handouts. We still believe in working for what you earn and that hard work pays off but that system only works when there is an adequate amount of jobs with wages that actually coincide with the cost of living. This movement is not an attempt to end corporations. This movement wants to end corporate person-hood, corporatism, to keep corporations out of politics, and to limit their financial contributions to elect the representatives who will cater to their generally illegal desires. This movement is not Anti-American. We care about this nation even more than they do and that is why we are fighting to restore it. If we just leave it in the hands of those it's in now it will only continue to get worse.
This is a peoples movement, created for the people, by the people. It is party-less, leaderless, decentralized, peaceful, non-violent civil resistance movement. It is not a business, a political party, an advertising campaign or a brand. It is not for sale. This movement is not and never has been affiliated with any established political party, candidate or organization. The Quad City Occupy's only affiliation is with the people to provide a forum for peaceful assembly of individuals to engage in participatory as opposed to partisan debate and democracy. The Quad Cities Occupy has established a General Assembly with people in the Quad City Area who would like to see all join and "SPEAK WITH THEM, NOT FOR THEM." We encourage the Quad Cities to join them as the 99% become one in Solidarity and Support.
The events that occured on Wall Street in the last two months were just the beginning. The Occupy protests have spread from Wall Street to London to Bogota, Sidney, Africa and Asia. 951 cities in 82 countries around the world now have an active occupation. It is now time for Quad Cities Occupy to make contact with their brothers and sisters in our region. Iowa and Illinois Occupy need the support of our community. There are occupations in Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, Des Moines, Springfield, Bloomington-Normal and Chicago that you should also support. This is a global revolution and it can't be won without every community doing their part. The power struggle that we are facing at this time in the world is vast and every one of the 99% in your community must be prepared to step up to the challenge.
To those that oppose us and actively spend their time heckling our efforts we say, get a life! The global elite will toss you some scraps and let you think that you can join their ranks if you work hard enough. They have a sick desire for money and power and they don't care about you except for the money that they can make off of you. Our revolution is sweeping the world and change will happen and you don't want to be one that the people remember as being opposed to economic and social justice.
This is the future, and the failure on the part of governments and media alike to understand, and contend with the rapid change now afoot, ought to remind everyone concerned why it is that this movement is necessary in the first place.
