Bowling for Columbine did it to the gun culture.

Super Size Me did it to fast food.

Now The God Who Wasn't There does it to religion.

Holding modern Christianity up to a bright spotlight, this bold and often hilarious new film asks the questions few dare to ask.

Your guide through the world of Christendom is former fundamentalist Brian Flemming, joined by such luminaries as Jesus Seminar fellow Robert M. Price, professor Richard Dawkins, author Sam Harris and historian Richard Carrier.

  • As a agnostic. If you say Jesus didnt exist. You have come up with secondary cause for christianity. So far no atheist has give me a good one. And Oh and early christian where ready to die for a FUCKING metaphor. Give me a break. Also similarities do not prove or disprove someone existed. Anymore then the big bang proves theirs no god. Why dont you people start saying muhammad never existed. Oh that right somebody is likely to rip your fucking balls off.

  • no jesus is real just watch

  • @Kesky16 - "You seem to be unfamiliar with historian's practices to determine someone's historicity, educate yourself in history and its practices"

I think you'll find my knowledge of historicity is just fine, as is my knowledge of history and it's practices. Only a certain amount of people where ALLOWED to write after the war. Vespasian was extremely strict about what was written, what was published and distributed throughout HIS Empire.

    What evidence would convince you?

  • @Kesky16 - "The fact it spread so fast is a case against your own hypothesis" - Wrong. It's completely logical that if something spreads so fast throughout the Roman Empire, it has the support of the Romans. I don't think you can argue with that.

"Several Jews put their very life in line in order to practice christianity" - Who?

"Not to mention the apostles that decided to be killed" - You mean the fictional apostles from the NT?

The NT was written in Koine Greek - undebatable.

  • @Kesky16 - "Folklore doesn't come into existence in a timeframe of 20 years" - How do you come up with that time-frame?

"You have got no evidence whatsoever for your little story" - You mean besides all the textual and circumstantial evidence? If this conversation continues you'll see much evidence and examples of logic that simply crush any alternative explanations.

"Jesus' christianity began in several shapes" - Explain.

"Gospels Mary/Judas" - Proof of what?

  • @Kesky16 - "The set of bones found fits perfectly into history's stream" - Right, but it's not concrete evidence and until it is I suggest we leave it until the end and re-evaluate this discovery with what we know.

"a mythical figure could not have formed..." - Even though Jerusalem had been destroyed and the story of Jesus had the almighty power of Rome behind it? They controlled the entire empire, converting places of worship, installing bishops, controlled publishing, distribution, etc, etc

  • @Kesky16 - "So if romans started christianity why did they persecute christians until the 3rd century?" - They didn't. They certainly where NOT singled out like the Christian apologists make out.

"the fact the church left gospels that are not in perfect accordance with each other, or even with their doctrine (Roman catholic's perpetual virgin Mary vs gospel of John) can kill this hypothesis alone" - Complete and utter tosh. Prove it.

  • @Franknarfable The fact it spread so fast is a case against your own hypothesis. Several Jews put their very life in line in order to practice christianity. Not to mention the apostles that decided to be killed instead of admitting Jesus was a forgery and they made up the resurrection.

1 in 10,000 could read, and some mentions r in greek, not all of them.

You seem to be unfamiliar with historian's practices to determine someone's historicity, educate yourself in history and its practices

  • @Franknarfable Early tradition had to come from somewhere, so do textual mentions. The set of bones found fits perfectly into history's stream.

And no, a mythical figure could not have formed within a few decades like Jesus' teachings did, it is impossible! Folklore doesn't come into existence in a timeframe of 20 years.

You have got no evidence whatsoever for your little story. Jesus' christianity began in several shapes and cults and only a few survived, read about the gospel of Judas/mary

  • @Franknarfable There is proof for Jesus' existence coming from the bible, not in the way you might think tho. If Jesus was in fact a mythical figure the gospels would come forth with closely knit stories, the fact the church left gospels that are not in perfect accordance with each other, or even with their doctrine (Roman catholic's perpetual virgin Mary vs gospel of John) can kill this hypothesis alone.

So if romans started christianity why did they persecute christians until the 3rd century?
