I've got to disagree with Cyrus on the leaders he shows such negativity against. Thule and Angelos are both major badasses throughout the Dawn of War series, and their role in Tartarus and Kronus were both pretty awesome.

@skewCZ In Retribution one of the characters, The Ancient, is revealed to be Tarkus, who took a vowe of silence as amends for killing his traitor battle-brother who had fought alongside him on Kronus. The only other SM in CR who had also fought on Kronus was Avitus(Thule doesn't count).

Oh, nevermind, got it now - Tarkus mentions in Retribution he and the traitor served together on Kronus... I think Thaddeus wasn't there, so it had to be Avitus.

Do you have any source where its stated Avitus is the traitor ?

I gotta say, even though Thaddeus was one of my favorite characters of DoW2, I liked it the most when he was the traitor. Way better than "I-went-nuts-from-the-endless-­slaughter" reason Avitus has - thats kinda' cheap to me.
