The Scottish programme of events for the first ever UK Armed Forces Day was launched in Edinburgh on 10th June 2009. GMTV presenter Lorraine Kelly was present to reveal this unique day to celebrate the Armed Forces past and present for their brave service, recognising the contribution they have made to Scotland and the UK.

The launch included a spectacular parachute jump by the RAF Falcons from a Puma helicopter and Lorraine Kelly travelling in a Challenger C2 tank.

Large celebrations are being planned for the day (27th June) in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen and Dundee, with each event bringing together thousands of Army, Navy and RAF personnel, veterans, and reservists, with support from Cadets and Scottish military bands.
