This short sword is named, "Ark Angel." Ark Angel's mission is to protect the Presence of the Most High with Extreme Prejudice! The sword has many sharp edges which make it easy to get injured. It was designed to be carried by the Angel of Death when he went through the land of Egypt to slay all the first born. He was commanded to go and he exercised his mission efficiently and violently, only those who had the lamb's blood on the door post were spared.
The sword was forged from a piece of leaf spring. Hardened by the Japanese method of using a refractory clay on the back and exposing the edge, to produce a hard edge and soft back.(differential heat treatment) Mustard patina was applied to this blade and finally rubbed down with olive oil.
The guard is elk crown with the wing symbol of the Ark Angle carved into it. Spacer between handle and guard is coconut husk, allowing for expansion between dissimilar materials.
The handle is composed of two copper ferules, one on each end to add strength to the bamboo handle. The bamboo handle is built up inside with slivers of bamboo to make a solid piece, filling voids. The butt of the handle is crowned with horn for a scull crusher. Broom grass plume flairs out from bamboo butt. Tribal flavor is added to bamboo by burned texture and design. Bamboo pin secures handle in the Japanese style.
The sheath is a mixture of woods: White Oak, Birch, Black Walnut, Curly Maple and Bamboo. The backing is Birch. The sheath was sculpted after assembling and gluing. A portion of the belly of the blade is exposed when sheathed to infer that the blade is not safe even when sheathed and should only be handled by those it was designed for. The anchor for the shoulder strap is Virginia Whitetail deer antler. The sheath is worn on the left side of the body, blade edge up so it can be drawn into action immediately.
The shoulder strap is braided and twisted suede. The loose hanging piece of suede attaches to deer antler anchor to adjust and maintain angle of sheath when worn.
