1 from Tina Brooks's "True Blue" album. Recorded June 25, 1960 at the Van Gelder Studio. Tina Brooks (ts); Freddie Hubbard (t); Duke Jordan (p); Sam Jones (b); Art Taylor (d).
Great jazzed-up blues, as blown by Brooks & Freddie! Hard to believe that this was the only Blue Note LP, with Tina as leader, to be released during his lifetime - 5 albums were recorded for Blue Note between '58 & '61, and "True Blue" was the solitary collection of hard bop "Tina tunes" to be pressed into vinyl before his death, at age 42, on August 13, 1974.
Thankfully, nearly all of the music from his Blue Note LPs is posted on Y/T now.
Fine sax man - just check his solo here for proof!
