  • There seems to be more self-reliance safety-wise and less reliance on "the system" like we have in the States. Of course their "system" seems to involve unwritten but well understood rules of its own which it's hard for a 'Mei-guo ren' to grasp.

  • I was not there very long - a few days altogether - but I did see one scooter get hit by a car. The scooter driver had turned against the light. We stopped for a minute - it seemed the woman was not too seriously injured. The traffic there has a culture of its own.

  • scooters would solve a lot of traffic problems in cities around the world if only people could change their habits

  • Awesome or completely insane. I love two wheeled transport, but this is a bit much for me. One person goes down and I could see a ton of people getting hurt. I'm amazed that in my week and half of traveling around Taiwan that I never saw a single scooter accident.
