Thanks for doing the video - especially putting on titles - gives you a good idea. My Mom grew up here. Her father worked all his life in Ladysmith Barracks for Manchester Regiment. I am in Canada and wondering if I can find out more about his army records in A-U-L. The music sounds like upbeat Samuel Barber...is it?!

Barracks used to be on Mossley Road till they built posh houses on it. Army pay corps was at the back on Rose Hill Road till the built shite housng on it.

@ol66an I can think of much worse areas. How about Sport City?

You could have done it on a sunny day. It kind of looks something from the Russian soviet era but you did very good regardless. Ashton isn't a bad town, I've lived here all my life but I can't say it's the best although I do take some pride in Ashton. It's quite good compared to some other towns in Tameside. I just wish the council would invest in developing the area and modernising it instead of buying hanging baskets that no one seems to care about also sorting out the social issues.

@MattsHotelRetro Ta Mate, I totally agree Ashton is not a bad town and I am also very proud of the place. Yeah it has its social problems but then again hasn't any town. It is a place that has such a fascinating history. I am planning to do some films about the history. Its been nice that people have shown an interest in the film and if the council could learn anything from the comments, it is that folk in Ashton do care and they should start to really invest in the area.

Small and depressing market town which is stuck in a time warp....love the music though!.
