Aside from the traditional method of Russian spindle (plying to the bobbin from the spindle), I prefer to make a plying ball and ply to a spindle. The question then arises, which hand are you going to choose to spin the spindle?
Logically, if you mirror your spinning movements by switching the spindle to the left hand... you might find that it is ergonomically comfortable to twist the spindle in a clockwise direction. However, it's not often as easy as that. The left hand is still weak (if you're right handed) and may suffer.
If you twist the spindle with the right (and you intend to ply in the counterclockwise direction), this video will show you a posture which still keeps the joints in a somewhat neutral position and allows for control while winding on.
All is explained in the video. =]
As always, your results will vary and this video represents my own personal preferences. You are free to do and try anything that feels most comfortable to you.
I urge you to always be aware of comfort and never do anything which causes tingling, numbness, hyperextension, or keeps a limb or joint bent at a severe angle for any length of time.
What are you plying from? a ball of singles? Or two other spindles? Love your videos! Maybe you could do a video from a full cop to this stage.
