Hey guys I know how to turn on closed captions without iPod button. Go to video and do it! Hope that helps!

I have tried a few films from iTunes Stores but decided not to purchase and download them anymore.
The reason? The captioning is way too small to be readable on iPhone. They are like quarter of inch high. Apple should rework on that feature.
I usually rip lot of films that I purchase then convert them to m4v with subtitles selected. They are much more readable.

To get the subtitles on your iPod is very different, it doesn't have an iPod button.

Would it be possible to add Closed Captioning to a video?

Thanks for the answer, so pretty much means that I need extra software to do so, right?

@msdila123 Don't know why (since there is no logical explanation) but almost all movies and TV shows from iTunes do not have closed captions. The deaf and hard of hearing community should ask iTunes why they are not using their own technology.... it might be that the content owners do the encoding and are not encoding CC's, not Apple... just a wild guess.
