  • I'm on quads, left side.. awesome band! I'm stll a drummer/percussionist to this day thanks to the music program at AHS. RIP Mr. Sweeney... RJM

  • William J Sweeney, the man responsible for this band passed away on 12/20, this past Saturday.

  • haha. i must know you pretty well then and saw you in CA in 1990 before I came back to NY to start my MM at Juilliard. Hilarious. Now, let me think...who could this be? don't tell me.

  • I know you. I saw Sean in Atlanta during the Olympics. I know most of your whole family. Remember California 1990? How are you?

  • Thanks for the info. I remember Sean. He was an awesome player. Love your comments about the band! I haven't been back to see the band since graduation, but do know they are doing things nationally now. Wish we had the opportunity back then.

  • i didn't grad in 84, but 81. my brother, who was in this band, sean motise, graduated in 85. he was a trumpeter. he had the big solo the year this band won the title. so i guess that was 83.

  • i graduated in 81, but my younger brother was in this band for several years, Sean Motise was his name and he was the solo trumpeter.

  • FYI... We won in '83 and '85. Was there, Class of '86

  • Cool, I was there. Class of '83. I'm sure if you graduated in 84 I probably know you. :)

  • poughkeepsie, ny area. one of the greatest music departments in the country at that time due to a guy named Bill Sweeney and a couple of others. no joke, MANY MANY kids went directly into Juilliard and other top schools right out of graduating. i believe half the entire flute section went to juilliard after graduating. the 80's was truly he pinnacle of this great music dept.
