Very nice interpretation of the piece. You don't happen to know where I can find tabs for it? Or at least a tuning?

@brianisbrain Yea, "headstock" is right! Ha ha. Pretty cool.

@talc89a Oak would work and it's a good hard wood. I think I was thinking of shaping it. I've made some guitar necks and I use hand tools to shape the back of the neck. If (when) I make a cigar box guitar I would probably round the back of the neck a bit and although I have never tried oak for a neck I think its tendency to splinter might make it harder to work with.

@coronet67 oak is fine if you sand it

@ksprague Poplar is underrated. I think I'll try one of these and I'll probably use poplar. It's easy to work with and it's a decent wood. I dont care for the oaks. Open grain, splintery stuff. Maple or poplar seems like a good cigar box neck.

i have never even liked the southern style music but this is one of the most beautiful things i have ever heard

It totally sounds like "Over the Rainbow" played by some Mongolian nomadic instrument.

man i love you! i'm so glad to know there's another loon out there like me!!!
and GREAT job on this song!!!!!!!!!
what tuning???
Hi Sam,
Thanks! The neck is poplar (like you can pick it up at Lowes.) Red Oak would be great, but just personally, I like a softer wood because it's easy to shape. All options have a trade-off, I suppose. The tuners are ebony bass tuners that I picked up on eBay (about a buck a piece.) Best of luck and post a video when you're done!
