A famous rumba/conga band originating from Cuba.Their leader was Ernesto Lecuona who made a name for himself in the united states through composing 400 songs writing for musicals and leading the cuban boys.He probably did more than anyone else to popularise Latin American dance music. It caught on big time in Britain, with several British dance band leaders changing their names, and music styles to appear South American in order to cash in on the craze in the 1930s.When Ambrose recorded "the peanut vendor" they had to use beads in a tin to replicate the sound of cannasters,as not one pair could be located in London, such was the newness of the music.

Drummer Augustin Bruguera sings on this record while Daniel Gonzalez noodles with his clarinet. Great recording made in Paris on October 1937.
