@feAr636 You wouldn't be able to get it into first because the intermediate shaft would still be spinning. Letting the clutch out in neutral gets things back in order and then you can proceed to first.

@Pyroja You could shift right to first, keep the clutch pressed in until the car starts to glide forward because of the momentum and then let go of the clutch. Right?

@T1NT33 Because when you're in reverse, your intermediate shaft is spinning in reverse. You double clutch to fix that. If you go straight from R to 1st, you'll do some heinous grinding.
