Sabah DAP Vice Chairman, Edward Ewol Mujie, Sabah DAP Medical and Health Advisory Bureau chief Dr Felix Chong and Parti Keadilan Sabah (PKR) National Integration Bureau Chief Dr Chong Eng Leong, in a joint Press conference, said they disagreed with the statement by NRD Public Relations Officer, Jainisah Mohd Noor.
Dr Chong said there was so much evidence of illegal immigrants obtaining the MyKad in Sabah such as those mentioned in the four books written by Mutalib MD.
"Why has the Government not taken action against Mutalib for writing those books until now if the facts are not true?," asked Dr Chong.
Dr Chong said he had also written a book "Lest We Forget" that documented, among others, his winning the Likas Election Petition 1999 judgement where it was found there were phantom or illegal immigrant voters in the Likas electoral rolls.
There were also reports of foreigners who admitted they entered Sabah illegally and were born outside Malaysia but declaring that they have in their possession the coded 12 MyKad, stating that they were born in Sabah.
It was also reported in June 2002 - when the MyKad was still not available in Sabah - that Kg Kota, in the Keningau interior, already had foreigners who obtained their MyKads before others.
"When then Chief Minister Tan Sri Chong Kah Kiat asked the NRD to verify the MyKad of these people it was found to be genuine," he said.
He said the NRD should not continue to deny the fact because the matter was also highlighted by the Malaysian Human Rights Commission (Suhakam) in its 2008 Annual Report.
Suhakam stated that foreigners who were in possession of the MyKad had complained that their MyKad was not accepted by certain agencies although they had used it to cast their vote in past General Elections.
