Over the last several months, Will County residents have been presented with a stark contrast as to their two choices for the important position of Will County Executive.
Incumbent County Executive Larry Walsh has been exposed as a Cook County-style politician in the mold of his friends Rod Blagojevich, Todd Stroger and Emil Jones, who uses his office to employ his family members and dole out insider, no-bid contracts to connected developers and political associates.
In the last month alone, Mr. Walsh has refused to disclose to Will County residents the precise financial benefits he and his family derive from farming properties owned by CenterPoint Properties, a huge developer of intermodal facilities in Will County and major campaign donor to Mr. Walsh.
And just last week, Will County residents learned that, at minimum, Mr. Walsh's Chief of Staff, Matt Ryan, is the subject of an FBI investigation for steering lobbying contracts (paying as much as $10,000 per month) to apparent business associates of his; contracts, by the way, on which Mr. Walsh signed off.
On the other hand, Dan Kennison has presented bold, new ideas: to improve the ethical performance of Will County government; to enhance transparency of Will County government operations so residents know how and where their tax dollars are being spent; to keep Will County as a low-tax county to attract businesses and jobs; and to strike the right balance in terms of growing Will County's regional economy while protecting the quality of life Will County residents enjoy by reducing traffic congestion and preserving open space.
If you believe past performance is an indicator of future performance, then there are a lot of questions about who Larry Walsh intends to serve as County Executive based on what has been learned in this campaign. There are no questions about Dan Kennison's priorities. He'll tell it to you straight, as he does in the video presented here for your viewing.
As always, you're encouraged to e-mail Dan directly at dan@dankennison.com with questions, concerns, or issues you would like to discuss with him.
Dan, I wish I saw this video earlier Thanks*****
