  • ...all of this gnosis resulting from the electrical activity predetermined by the hardware configuration of his brain, operating on the same binary logic that allows us to communicate using different machines via the internet.

  • recall that Pauling was able to visualize the alpha-helix by referring to chemistry's "rosetta stone" - the existing recorded body of knowledge - built upon rules governing possible structural geometries with relation to bond angles of specific molecular arrangements, determined via deductive reasoning...

  • - and too many fanboys for one or the other, I might add...

  • I'm sure Pauling would recognize that binary logic is the uniting structural phenomena that facilitates consensus of ideas within the human race independent of the subjective divergence of languages - the result of natural entropy related to the isolation of populations due to the lack of static preservation of language as it existed at the moment of populations diverged. Think of it like UNIX (Mac & Linux) vs DOS (Windows). Same basic hardware, same operational output, different cmd structure.

  • antoniousalta: On the other hand, considering that all brains are presumably structurally the same, is human thinking so divergent.? I'm thinking of the different languages, religions etc. I guess it's the cultural conditioning that makes the difference.

  • I wonder what Pauling would think about this question, "Why are there so many languages, yet such a convergence of thinking?"
