I used a mini-tripod from the Dollar Tree and put it on a non slip pad on the dash. Had some minor success until the tripod BROKE. But what do you expect for a buck?
The tripod legs were about 4" long with a metal screw mounting on the top. Unfortunately, the area where the legs were attached was plastic and not metal and so broke from repeated use.
