"This somewhat whimsical tune (in a mildly dark way) was written during a time when our biggest national concern was who was having sex with who in what room of the White House...these are now sometimes referred to as the "Good Old Days"...the fictitious character in this song has had a hard scrabble life for sure and has developed, oh let us say, a little bit of an attitude...he remains however, a survivor with a time tested philosophy: THE WHOLE WORLD IS CRAZY!...personally, I don't think that's the case...the whole world is not crazy...only the people who run it.... "
