Here's a fun little video featuring Craig Sorenson and one of the small lofts he and Jim Jenner have dreamed up for kids. This is part of the film "Young Wings" which is about children and the part pigeons can play in bringing nature into their lives.

If you want to see some of the most successful pigeon racing lofts in the world you want "Secrets of Champions IV: Winning Lofts". This 3+ hour documentary by Jenner shows many of the most successful lofts in the world and explains how they work. Great for a beginner or someone who wants to improve their racing loft. See it at www.pigeonfilms.com.

  • for a hundred dollars i can build something as a small storage what a rip off!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @vidaminfeeder2 Are you kidding? Maybe out of scrape sure, but there is about $100 in materials in here. Be careful who you claim is ripping people off because we do not sell these and simply put this film here to give people ideas.

  • The capacity depends on the age of the birds and the type of screening you use on the sides. Six perches at either end would accommodate up to a dozen young birds. With open sides it is much like an aviary so the capacity is different than a loft with less venting. We used 1/2" black bird netting but I think that 50% shade cloth would be better. The bird netting does not keep out all predators, such as mink and raccoons, which 1/2" wire or woven shade cloth can do.

  • THIS IS ONLY A LITTLE DEMO OF A PIGEON LOFT SHELL. This would only hold about twelve birds maximum. We have been experimenting with ways to make cheap lofts for kids and only put his on just to show some time lapse of the building process.. The perches could be "V" perches or box perches at either end. The landing board goes on the opposite side of the entry doors. We'll post some more pictures of the finished loft soon.

  • Sorry we already gave it to friend. But it was about $100 in raw materials.

  • can you send me a measurements....and did you bought it by those measurements retail?

  • Thanks!! This is very helpful. I'm considering beginning to raise pigeons and just want to start out with something pretty small. This was very helpful in giving me some ideas.

  • I think it's great to get kids interested in pigeons, to keep the hobby alive. Whenever I have some extra pigeons I need to cull, I give them to local kids who are overjoyed to get them & watch them breed. I have helped kids build small coops too. The one you built is a perfect starter coop for someone just getting into keeping pigeons! And $100 is not bad at all, they sell rabbit hutches for more & you get less!

  • Super!

  • @TheBenzer9 NO THEY DONT THEY SPEND TOO MUCH AND AND BUILD TOO LITTLE
