Picking up where Part 1 left off, CP 283, the "slow, meticulous westbound" rattles the diamond in Watertown powered by ES44AC CP 8804 with a recent product of the WSOR Horicon paint shop, Minnesota Northern GP9 1356 (ex-GTW), dead-in-tow.

"Out of Bensenville we were 8300 feet long, 7300 ton with a single unit...then tack another 1,000 feet on there with more tonnage"

After that clears, the Union Pacific local LPA-18 comes north and crosses the diamond with four cars from Jefferson behind UP 369.

Finally, CP 396 (eastbound unit grain) gets the go-ahead and comes through with two more ES44ACs, CP 8829 and 8823.

  • Sweet vid Andy looke dlike some WSOR boxcars on the CP Train wonder why the UP didn't blow the horn for the crossing also those CNW hoppers at Jefferson are Gone

  • As you can probably tell from the conversation in the video, I'm not quite clear on what the quiet zone rules there are, and the variance I've observed in what the trains actually do doesn't help. Most of the UP crossings have signs saying "No Train Horn", but they have no gates, and I thought federal law superseded any local bans at crossings without them.
