I live in SF and have been here twice. Joe makes a good burger, but what you get in total is simply not worth the price. Aside from the burger, the side foods are okay. I cannot in good conscience recommend this place, which is ultimately more hype than substance.
It is so wrong given the neighborhood, the joint motif, and genre of food to charge so much. This isn't an upscale place for goodness sake.
I was in San Fran this past weekend and stopped into Joe's to check out these burgers that i saw on Triple D. 1st off i noticed the prices...Holy Sh*t i thought to myself. $12 for a 4oz burger with no fries? $8 for a bowl of chili? $6 for an order of onion rings? Dont get me wrong all the food was delicious but for 4 of us who ate there the bill was $80 not including tip and we all got the 4oz burgers not the 6oz or 8oz. It was a nice expirence but i will not be going back due to the prices.
This place is a great place to eat at!. A bit on the pricy side but for the quality and health consciousness of the meat, it is worth it. Those service charges have never been enforced when i've gone there and shared burgers with people nor did I ever have a 15 dollar minimum charge. I was actually there the other day. Great place, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion and experience. Try this place at least once. Try the Teriyaki Burger!
Was looking at their menu and noticed this: "$6 cover charge for split orders. $15 minimum service charge per person". WTF? A family of 4 going out to eat burgers is a MINIMUM of $60 before tax+tip?
Why have prices on the menu if you require charge cover and service charges.
No Thanks. One would think that Guy would mention that little nugget in his show.
Stay away from this place! The people here are staged. They never get more than a few people here a day. PLUS bring your PLATINUM VISA CARD.. you will need or stop by the ATM and pull out 100 bones!!! This place is a RIP OFF!!!!!
Live in the same neighbor hood as Joe's Cable Car and i have been eating there for a long time

the prices at this place is too extreme considering, it is in a working class neighborhood.
