This hairstyle is inspired by Dorothy Gale of Wizard of Oz, from the makeover scene (in Emerald City). Well, it was incredibly humid and warm out when I filmed this tutorial, so my curls didn't come out the best... but my *own* results really aren't necessary to be perfect, so long as all of you leave this video with inspiration and hopefully some new insight or techniques :)

Things you will need:

Curling Iron (but any curling method is fine! I just chose the quickest method)
Hairspray
Bobby-pins
Hair clips (forgot to mention that in the video)
One oversized Bow

  • Can I ask you? How long will it took to have the hairspray be strong? And does hairsprays affect on every doll's hair? Thanks!+

  • @RaysonPaulTancasis I only lightly spray, I just "swoosh" the can around my hair, while holding it at a good distance, a couple times. I think hairspray has a tendency to weigh the hair down if it's done excessively :)

  • I think to get this type of hair style, to get good ringlets, I would suggest SPONGE ROLLERS, they are the best for getting perfect ringlets. Judy's hairstyle is very timeless and beautiful, she was a beautiful girl inside and out.

  • I use sponge rollers on a regular basis, but I wanted to demonstrate creating this hairstyle "in the moment" which sponge rollers would not have been the most opportune choice... well, it doesn't really matter, just as I said in the video, the method so much as the styling itself.

  • I love this hairstyle, Judy Garland's hair style in WIZ, was great, very beautiful, soft bouncey curls NEVER GO OUT OF STYLE! I do this hairstyle all of the time, it makes you look younger I am 26, but I just love the shape of it, it gives you that heart shape to your face. Judy's hair also reminds me of Belle (from Beauty and the Beast) very similiar. I am a natural redhead, and my hair has naturally wide waves, so this hair style works perfectly

  • Thank you.

  • I really like this one - i think the curls look great (i don't think they were affected by the heat that much). I like how you wear tops that fit the era and character of the time.

  • my goodness, i never thought hair could be so complicated...

  • @ibkristykat I think they usually slept in curlers, pin curls, or the rag curls (strips of cloth used as curlers).

  • I know how to do the pigtail of Dorothy's hair.

  • Where did you learn to do all these hairstyles? You are so talented!
