Shadow Hearts - Yuri

Ok, how has Yuri aquired 2000 HP? Yet he strangely loses 3/4 of it later on!

Anyway, you have to actually fight the main character in the game, which to my knowledge doesn't happen in RPG's often! He starts off by physically attacking you, and can strangely pull off quite a few criticals. After losing a bit of health, he'll transform into Death Emporer. He can now use Dark messenger, which CAN instantly kill you, so have Leonardo's Bear's ready! When his health's almost gone, he'll use Drain Wave to up his special attack power.

The basic strategy here is to hit him with your strongest attacks possible, in which case should be Bat Dance, Blessed Light and Corpse Arm. Don't use Keith's Blood Sucker ability until he needs health, as it costs more MP than Bat Dance, but doesn't do that much more damage. Hopefully you can finish Yuri off before he uses a beefed up Dark Messenger, as it's most certainly an instant kill to Alice, seeing as she's light class.
