Once again a prime example of Irwin Allen spending his entire budget on hiring big name actors for all roles but forgetting to fund other parts of the film, in this case he forgot to fund the Special Effects Department

Yeah but all they give is an extremely cheap superimposed explosion. I'm surprised the actors careers didn't go down the drain after embarrasing themselves by showing up in this mess.

Actually yes. Paul Newman, William Holden, Ernest Borgnine, Red Buttons and Veronica Hamel all had to appear in this movie. Jaqueline Bisset, however had no excuse to be in this.
