@SweetT79 To be punctilious about the whole thing it would be 'tcha' (which also moved onto being 'chai'). A certain region of Japan pronounced it 'te' which through trading with the Dutch found it's way into being the 'tea' that is known across the West today.
Being a British based advert the irony is that an man of Asian ethnicity in London is asking for a 'cup of char' instead of 'hee tcha' due to his non-rhotic pronunciation .

I love the music at the end of the ad. Don't get me wrong, I love the ad altogether, although I don't really remember much of it as at the time, I was only 4 :$. *sighs* But those were the days, and the ads for Macci D's was soooooooo much better.

Oh I remember this advert. Can't believe it was that long ago - certainly more inspiring than the insipid "lovin' it" stuff.
