How to define ethics without religion.
Not sure what is going on with the Sync problem. My original files are fine until youtube processes them. I'll be looking into it.

  • i wouldnt use violence on someone for pissing me off, even though i felt like it, because its wrong to let your temper or pride cause you to commit a crime to someone thats worse than what they did to me, which is to have pissed me off.. but if someone uses violence on me, then i feel justified in repaying.. do unto others as you would have done to you...an ass whipping... of course, if i can muster the strength, ill restrain myself...which deserves alot of reverence for anyone that can do that

  • @longfootbuddy When engaging in self defense the goal shoudl be to avoid violence. Meaning that the movements need not require a heart filled with violence and that movements are even more effective when the mind is clear.

Once the need for self defense is over and there is just a desire for vengeance, then it becomes not such a good thing to engage in. Not that we don't tend to have that desire. Which is, of course, reflected in all of our historic and modern mythology from myths to movies.

  • Love listening to you. It's funny in a way, you look like a total tatted up biker...and yet you're very eloquent. Gods...why didn't I have you in my philosophy class in college as my professor? I might have actually passed it.

  • @kabukikitsune Always enjoy kind words. My advice is, you get the email for your old teacher, or the person who replaced him/her and send them links to this video or others which you like. I think Plato's cave is pretty good myself :)

I could kinda get a kick out of showin up in a philosophy class or two :)

  • @thechurchofdave: Perhaps if you were to organize your life lessons and common sense way of looking at life into a written form you could found an actual church. And I don't mean a 501(c)3 organization but a First Amendment protected religion free from goverment jurisdiction.

  • @Circle14 I am collecting everything into a series of books. Not so sure about the idea of an organization. If it were unsuccessful it would suck. If it were successful, there is the risk it would get huge and distorted after I am dead :)

  • 6:00 exactly

  • Couldn't have said it better myself.

  • C'mon people...not for nothing here, but, 945 views...and 75 ratings? Like him or hate him, ratings help.

@thechurchofdave These 2 vids, by far, in my opinion, are your best.

  • @shanadewar OK fair enough on the objects. So now we are talking about the behavior of getting involved in the use of drugs.

In short, some forms of drug use could probably be considered immoral. Like the crackhead Mom or the alcoholic father or the drunk driver. It really isn't the drug use that's immoral but the persons desire to escape other responsibilities that is the problem. For the musician who smokes a joint and writes a song or the artist painting pictures on mushrooms it's fine.
