Watch from about 3:00 to 3:30. Mike talks about how long to make it. It depends on the size of window.

Thanks a bunch! My 100 year old windows were hard to operate and prop up. Your tutorial made the repair easy!

You may as well replace both sash ropes. If one is broke, the other will soon follow.

Moth larvae eat wool based materials. Cotton should last a very long time.

helpful but mine had a lot of different things to get into....
the door to the pully had grooved fittings - make sure to give yourself room to pull it out. pry it a bit more and give some room or you can crack it
i had sliders built into mine - these need to come out and either be replaced or reused. smaller nails will be needed.
the fish hook and weight was great thanks for the tips.

Won't cotton cords be susceptible to moth damage?

I didn't hear him mention it, but you should do this during low-humidity seasons (late fall or winter). I could not get the doors out when I tried a little while ago because they fit too tightly.
