The Foundation for Amateur International Radio Service (FAIRS) has been assisting the Dominica amateur radio operators for the past 14 years. FAIRS has donated dozens of hf radios, 100 or so handy talkies, a tower, beams. Generators and other equipment. Many FAIRS members from around the world have contributed to these activities by working in Dominica donating time and funds. The small village of Castle Bruce has 15 new hams most of them are still students in high school and they need a place to operate amateur radio. This project is to assist in the development of a club station for these new hams. FAIRS headquarters is located in Floyd, Virginia and is administered by the LCF Group.

@Astronautical123 you are sure correct about the flying machine - even hang gliding would be a hazard here. However Joesph is great friend and does his best to keep station on the air in Castle Bruce. If hurricane comes he will be the only hope of outside communications. The lower part of house is cinder block so my stay in place. I visit him and family every trip to Dominica. He is the one fellow who got our 'Foundation for Amateur International Radio Service' FAIRS coming to Dominica -more

@lcfgroup Started coming to Dominica in 1997 and we have made about 20 visits and have a number of projects on going. You can see them on my lcfvideo dot com Playlist of Dominica. We also hear J73JT on our regular FAIRS net 14318.5 1200z STT most of the time. It is really nice to know folks like his family. When we started to travel their his son was 3 or 4 and now in 2nd years of local college. I recommend Dominica for any ham visit - license easy to get and the Island is beautiful nature

We are in the Appalachian Music community of Floyd Virginia - I am also making a small museum display of some of my computers available to the public in the Village Green. We are on the "Blue Ridge Parkway" & " The Crooked Road - Virginia's Heritage Music Trail" . A lot of good things here - drop in and see us sometime.
